MY BELOVED'S BEAUTIFUL COMPANIONS

Reminiscences of good days and good moments take us back to the ecstasy of contentment and the relish of that same moment. It was all those happy days, when I was busy with the household chores, and my little ones running all around as it was their winter vacation. We got enough time to engage in all the activities. I used to enjoy the stories and news my better half narrates every day. Life was moving very smoothly. But one day to my great surprise I found my beloved’s talk centred around someone with jingling anklets, whom he met daily while jogging. His words had no limits when he described their heavenly beauty and graceful walk. I wondered who these beautiful companions he got all of a sudden with such a graceful gait!  Though the matter was not serious enough to disturb our peacefulness, it stuck somewhere in my mind.

The other day I found a new pair of sports shoes on the shoe rack. Very cute one. My husband’s sound came from behind. ‘I bought this for you. Just try it.' But I was reluctant to use it because I haven’t used such type before. Moreover, it takes more of men’s style. He said, ‘It is very comfortable to wear and really good for jogging. Next day we will go together. It’s really boring to walk all alone.' I became happy and energetic than ever more. The shoes fitted me well and was comfortable too. I liked it so much.

Early in the morning it was so quiet and peaceful, a serene atmosphere. We walked a long distance. It was very refreshing and we enjoyed the walk. When we reached a bend of the road, he stopped and said, ‘This is what I wanted to show you.'  To my surprise, there I was able to see a refreshing sight which gave me an instant soothing. Then the whole perception of the things changed all at once. I listened to the finest of chirping and jingling, which fell on my ears like the beckoning of a new day. Some of them had colourful rings with small jingles, on their legs. May be those pigeons were fed by someone with great love and care. When we reached near, some of them turned and watched us for a moment and went on with their business. As we walked along a few birds followed us, then they flew away. One more week we could see them there. Then they disappeared. May be they have migrated to escape the cold weather. Today in this lockdown, I really wish those days come back again. A good refreshing walk is better than any other activity, if we feel that we are overdosing on social media and digital world.

We are expecting more surprises in the coming winter. Will the birds come there again? Will they have jingles on their legs?
