COILING DREAMS

Image
I tossed and turned as I tried to sleep. Memories that I had buried deep within me were bursting through my consciousness. A kind of fear always engulfs me,   whenever I hear something about snakes. Once, in my childhood, I encountered a snake and was saved within a few inches distance. Before I plunge in to that, let me tell you something, which I would like to describe as, the most important of the least important things. It was a wonderful Saturday.   After the strenuous hard work of long five days in school, the much-awaited weekend has come. It is very difficult to wake up early on a school day. But on weekends we were the early birds. We will wake up before the sun comes. I opened my eyes with great excitement.  Straight out of the bed, I tiptoed to the window and slowly opened it. The cool air of the last night’s rain hit my face. It is really a pleasant experience to breath in the freshness of the new day. I blinked my eyes to see the beauty. What a precious ...

FROM STAGES TO STARDOM

We all have friends. Who is there in this world without a friend? Everyone has. My friends are gems that shine with a sparkling glow. We will get their radiance if we just go near them. Once I got a friend, who took me completely into her own charge. There was a time when I struggled a lot to overcome an initiation problem. I had a very bad habit of taking leave on the very first day of the academic year. Today I regret it. Usually, the first day will be a day fixed for the self-introduction or rather I would call it ‘the ragging day’. The beginning is perhaps more difficult than anything else.   It was my first day in the college. As far as I am concerned, a phase of big change. That is a shift directly from school to college. I joined for a pre degree course. As I said before, it was my first day in the college. However, for all others it was the second day. I had skipped the first day, which the seniors set as the raggin...

MEMORIES

THE QUEEN OF STORIES ‘On the top of the hill there was a big mansion. He went all the way up. There were many tall trees on the way hiding the view of the mansion. A pleasant smell filled the place. It seemed someone was alluring him. He looked up. A fresh leaf dropped from the tree, twirling in the air like a puzzle, shimmering in the twilight and fell on his foot. He took the leaf and rubbed it between his hands. Suddenly he got the scent and whispered ‘Eucalyptus!’ The whole place was filled with tall Eucalyptus trees. ‘How seductive!’ He thought. He kept walking and at last reached a bent of the road. Suddenly the mansion appeared. It stood upright, infront of him, charming and enchanting. The front door was left open. It was a giant door, which opened to a big hall. He stepped in to see the grandeur inside the hall. Elaborate mantelpiece, magnificent candle stands, and enticing chandeliers, all gave the room a distinctive aura. Amidst all these, something caught his attentio...

LITERARY ASPIRATIONS

Image
I am not a voracious reader. But of the many books I have read, there is one that caught my attention and resonates with me. It’s not a thriller, or a classic or not even a romance. But more than all these, it’s about life, simple, modest and beautiful life. ‘Little Women’ written by Louisa May Alcott is the book I am talking about. My literary aspiration doesn’t end with this or start with this, but this marks as a very influential book as far as my precision to become an elegant woman, is concerned.   Once my daughter and son turned the whole house upside down looking for a book. ‘Things you want the most are always found missing’, said my daughter after searching for a long time. ‘No sign of the book. I searched every place, even under this bed, but the book is not found’, said my son sadly. They were searching for my daughter’s English textbook, which was missing since that morning. They thought for a minute and came r...
